The class has been having fun creating their videos. However, we have run into some technical difficulties. One was that we didn't have enough iPads to go around. Explain Everything was a true hit but we only had about 4 working iPads at one time. I will continue to work with the IT department to get them all running in the right direction. Some students have decided to use Google slides to create their video instead. The process is taking a bit longer than I thought it would but I know the students are engaged.
The class needs to get practice making videos before we can jump into making videos with math concepts. In addition, our school is celebrating its 25th anniversary. I decided to join these two things together to create our first video project. A Year in Review Video. The students will be paired in order to have someone to help support their learning. Each pair will get a school year from one of the 25 years Journey has been around. They were given a project outline and we booked the library in order to give them research materials. Students then used the past yearbooks and the internet to find information about their year. They were then given a story board template to use to plan out their video. When researching video project it stated that planning is a big part of creating a good video.
